Poll Finds High Workplace Stress over Economy
March 16, 2009 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - More than half of
respondents to a new poll said there is an air of worry about
the economy in their workplace.

A news release from employee assistance plan provider ComPsych said 16% of the survey respondents described their workplace as “panicky.”
Other respondents described their workplace atmosphere as:
- “somewhat worried” – 39%,
- “business as usual” – 23%,
- “cautiously optimistic” – 14%
- “very hopeful” – 8%
“Workers are shouldering more work due to layoffs, and finding it difficult not to be distracted by future uncertainties,” said Richard A. Chaifetz, Chairman and CEO of ComPsych, in the news release. “We have seen a record number of calls for onsite counselors due to layoffs as well as requests for ongoing stress management counseling.”
