CFOs Find Ways to Keep Up Morale

March 13, 2009 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Sixty-eight percent of chief financial officers in a poll said they have found ways in the last year to keep up the mood of their finance employees, including more frequently talking to them about the effects of the sagging economy.

A survey by staffing firm Accountemps found that among the steps taken, were “additional financial rewards,” cited by 18% of CFOs, according to a news release.

  • Increased frequency and quality of communication – 37%,
  • Additional professional development opportunities – 18%,
  • Additional team-building activities – 18%, and
  • Enhanced employee recognition programs – 15%.


Meanwhile, 26% of respondents said they had taken no specific steps to deal with morale issues, the announcement said.

The survey was conducted by an independent research firm and is based on telephone interviews with more than 1,400 CFOs across the United States.
